Sound reducing glass laminated safety glass is manufactured with a special vinyl acoustic interlayer that offers better sound control than traditional polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers. This soft layer absorbs sound waves. The hardness of the glass and the softness of the vinyl acts to improve the sound reduction.
The interlayer is 0.76mm so is available in 2 basic thicknesses:
Sound reducing glass also works better at lower temperatures because the soft interlayer retains the sound. Sound reducing glass is available with any of the coloured vinyl interlayers and glasses in the ColourVue range. Sound reducing glass can also be manufactured with any SolarVue, Solarshield or CoolVue coating.
