Double Glazing (IG Units)

Double glazed units consist of two panels of glass separated by a spacer around the edges and sealed to the perimeter in factory controlled conditions. The spacer contains a desiccant drying agent which eliminates moisture vapour in the cavity. Double glazed units are available in many combinations including clear float, tinted float, reflective float, laminated, toughened and obscure and with Low E glass enhancements.

• Windows have been targeted as an energy reduction opportunity in residential and commercial buildings. Many countries are committed to reducing energy consumption and this trend is likely to continue and increase for years. Warmer window U-values make you feel more comfortable. / The lower the U value, the more efficient the glazing system is.
• Reduce sound transmission
• Thicker glass, larger air gaps and better glazing can all improve sound transmission reduction.
• Increases security and wind-loading resistance
• By adding an extra pane of glass it acts as a deterrent for unwanted guests, as well as increasing the wind-load resistance of the window.
• Reduce condensation on glass
• IG Units reduce window condensation by virtue of the double pane construction that keeps the inside pane warmer and thus less likely to allow condensation to form.

What is Warm Edge?

Any IG spacer that has less than 2 aluminium or steel cold bridges across the space between panes is considered warm edge.

Condensation can be reduced by more than 80% with Warm Edge Spacers

Edge of glass temperatures are increased by as much as 5 degrees Celsius

Size Restrictions (one of the 2 sides always needs to be less than 1500mm)
